In what will be the largest campaign for a Library in Canadian history, Add In - The Campaign for Calgary's Library will change the way libraries are viewed philanthropically. Currently in a quiet phase the Foundation is building support with Calgarians and donors to elevate philanthropic and sponsorship investment to new heights.
With an incredible investment from the City of Calgary in the New Central Library and 3 new branch Libraries in the city, there is a incredible transformation underway for the Library. There are projects throughout the city to enable the Library to enhance and deliver the best service to all Calgarians.
This campaign is about taking a great Library and making it exemplary - to enable that the citizens of Calgary have the best public library in the world.

The Calgary Public Library’s Grow A Reader mobile app takes the fun, interactive content from our popular early literacy programs and delivers it to parents via their smartphone or tablet. The app includes videos of Library staff performing rhymes, fingerplays and songs; recommended booklists; and tips for parents.
the Grow A Reader app extends the reach of CPL’s early literacy programs by making the content available to anyone with an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Parents who are not able to attend a program in person with their baby can learn some of the same skills and tips at home, and those who have attended a program can use the app to practice what they learned at home.
In the Fall of 2012 the Calgary Public Library launched a unique made-in-Calgary initiative that opens doors and opportunities for low-income Calgarians to access quality arts and culture experiences. The initiative builds upon a successful pilot project that was made possible through a community grant from the Calgary Foundation. Now, as a result of a generous multi-year financial investment by Sun Life Financial, the Library has expanded the initiative from five libraries, where it was piloted, to all 18 library branches in the system.

In January of 2013, with full support by Canadian Oil Sands Limited, this program provides essential math support and fun numeracy activities. WIth a goal to foster a confidence in math (based on JUMP Math and other Library resources) and provided by adult volunteers for students in Grades 1 to 6. Starting at 3 Library branches and expanding to 18 within 3 years, this program has already seen incredibly high demand with waitlists at all locations.
The overall objectives of Math Minds are to strengthen numeracy among students in kindergarten to grade six, and to help establish Calgary as a centre of excellence in math education. For students, numeracy is essential for future success in careers such as science and engineering. These disciplines drive innovation and technology development, which are critical to the Canadian economy.
Canadian Oil Sands believe that any student can enjoy and excel at math, including those who have encountered challenges in the past; you don’t need to be born “good at math”. Our shared vision with the Library is that the confidence gained through students’ success in math will empower them to make a positive difference for themselves and the world.
