Central Library Update

Image of the Central LibraryThe Central Library’s lower level sustained significant damage by the June 21st flood. Water seepage flooded the lower level causing damage to furniture, equipment, elevators, fire alarm system, phone system, meeting rooms, materials processing area and washrooms. Water levels exceeded four feet in areas.

The Central Library re-opened on Tuesday September 3rd.

The lower-level remains closed as repair and construction continues — likely until spring 2014.

Relocated Areas

The materials handling area, formerly located on the lower level, is now temporarily located on the ground floor lobby. The exterior materials return chute will remain closed while repair work continues to our lower level. The outside drop box at the Central Library is now permanently closed.  Please return your items to the Central Library during open hours.

The hold pick-up area has been relocated to the north side of the main floor and paperbacks have been relocated to the fourth floor (for adults) and second floor (for children and young adults). Maps and microfiche readers are available on the fourth floor.
