Volunteering at the Library

Volunteering with the Calgary Public Library is a rewarding and exciting experience. As an integral part of our organization, it is through our volunteers that we are able to strengthen and enhance services to our customers.

By helping youth foster essential learning skills, finding life in the stories of struggling readers, or opening the world to a home-bound reader, Calgary Public Library volunteers enrich their community. Our volunteers possess the unique opportunity to share their skills and passions, while developing new interests and friendships.

Our volunteers help their fellow Calgarians do many things, including the following:

  • Fostering the joy of reading
  • Beating the homework blues
  • Helping new Canadians practice their English literacy and language skills
  • Opening new doors for adults with low literacy skills
  • Exploring the world of computer technology
  • Realization of career goals and aspirations

Calgary Public Library values the contribution of volunteers’ time and skills to the betterment of society. Together, staff and volunteers, achieve our goal to enrich lives and build community by ensuring universal access to resources for information, learning, inspiration, and enjoyment.

Learn about our volunteer programs, see what current opportunities we have open, check out our blog, or apply to volunteer.

Join our dynamic team of volunteers today and make a difference in the lives of Calgarians!
