When I took on the project of writing a blog for the Calgary Public Library, I wondered whether I would ever succumb to writer’s block. Well, this is my 250th post, and it hasn’t happened yet.
In fact, it seems like the library is an endless repository for creative minds – I don’t know if I’ll ever exhaust all of the topics that are available. On any given day, I can write about an interesting new book, a cool program, or an event in which the library is participating.
If you haven’t visited your library lately, I really encourage you to make the trip. Am I biased in favour of libraries? Of course I am! But I have lots of reasons to be:
- We’re getting new DVDs all the time. HBO, documentary, instructional, foreign language, and more.
- We have ongoing free programs for all ages. Meet someone new, share your ideas, learn or refine a skill, have your mind opened.
- We’re accessible. You can call, e-mail or chat online with our staff. We’ll arrange a tour of the library for your group or agency, too!
Find your own reason to love your library! A yearly adult membership costs only $12 and allows you to access books, CDs, DVDs, MP3s, e-books, online newspapers (including the Herald and the Sun), free programs, and more. Find surprising items here, like sheet music, kill-a-watt meters, and postcards from the past. We're so much more than paperback novels (even though we've got a huge range of those, too!).
OK, there's my library love song.
Now, what will I write about for the 251st?
