International Volunteer Day - December 5, 2009

by Christine Pinkney - 0 Comment(s)

The Shasta Daisy, a symbol of volunteerism.

Beginning in 1985, the United Nations International Volunteer Day (December 5) offers an opportunity to show appreciation for all volunteers who dedicate their valuable time and skills to their communities. The Calgary Public Library is extremely fortunate to be part of an extensive volunteer family – many of our volunteers being beyond compare.

In accordance with International Volunteer Day on December 5, 2009 the Calgary Public Library in conjunction with Volunteering with ESL Learners (VESL) will be celebrating through the Immigrant Experiences event. Immigrant Experiences will bring together volunteers from different organizations, sharing stories amongst new Canadians and volunteers.

The Calgary Public Library would like to extend this invitation to all current Calgary Public Library Volunteers. As this event requires registration please contact Christine Pinkney at 403.260.2632 or christine.pinkney@calgarypubliclibrary.com for more information.
