Yes. You read that right... Movie Maniacs, the TeenZone and our friends at Alliance Films are offering a FREE Double-Pass to "The Hunger Games" movie screening at 7:00 p.m. on March 22nd at Chinook Theatre. The movie isn't actually released until the next day, so you'll get to see it before anyone else!

Now, this contest is going to be a little trickier than usual, since this movie has a little more buzz than usual. To enter, you have to tell us WHY YOU DESERVE TO GO TO THE HUNGER GAMES -- and be creative! We're going to pit your entries in a battle-to-the-death (well... kind of...) to see who the champion is. That person will be informed on Wednesday March 21st.

To enter:

1) Use the comments box below to tell us why YOU deserve to go to 'The Hunger Games'

2) Make sure to include a way to contact you- we need your name and library card number (which will not be posted). It would be awful to miss out on this chance -- make sure you include this info.

3) Be creative! Competition is stiffer than that in the 74th Hunger Games!

Good Luck! And may the odds be ever in your favour!

I am a current student attending Western Canada High School, and am a true fanatic of the Hunger Games. I am currently using the Hunger Games as my independent novel study book which I have just completed. I am hoping to see the movie so I can compare the movie and book in upcoming assignment. I am also an over worked IB student, and would really appreciate an evening out to the movies. I would also like to take my mom as she is enthusiastic about the series and uses the library on a daily basis. Thanks !

I have read the original The Hunger Games before it became a phenomenon. And did a book report for my grade 8 class. I have been addicted to the series ever since. It is simply the best series of all time. Katniss is a coolio feminine hero which everyone who has read the series can relate to.

I would love and appreciate it SO much if I got these tickets! I've read the trilogy about 6 times; they are so inspiring and my ultimate favourite books in the world. I also love the cast for the movie, like Josh hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam hemsworth... I have been counting down to seconds for the movie. I feel that if my sister were to be taken as a tribute in the games, I would take her place in a heartbeat. She means so much to me. I couldn't live without her. The books make me feel that even the smallest and simplest outcasts can make a difference. Rue, young, delicate and frail, yet still has the fight and flight of a bird, The strength to start a revolution in her name. She’s the reason that gave Katniss the determination and reason to fight for what was right and start a revolution. Actually even in the 21st century fame and fortune own this world. We follow the latest trends and sometime I want to stand out! Just like peeta said: “Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to…to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games.”

This story is simply inspirational. I used to be quiet and not outgoing - this book, to put it simply, changed my life. The story of Katniss has really made me think about my own life, and how I am living it. After thinking about it hard, I realized that I haven't done all the things that I would like to do, due to my fear of the unknown. I realize that now, in order to lead a fulfilling life, I need to take risks and not be afraid of going out of my comfort zone. Plus, I really love the book!

I would really like to go to the hunger games because I recently turned 19, and as a result, I missed my chance at entering the games myself (I was too busy studying for finals and eating bread {while I had to buy it myself, further perpetuating my broke-student status, at least it wasn't burned like Katniss'?}). As a result, the closest I can get to the chance at glory and deathly adventures is watching the movie! Thanks! And, of course, I am dying to see the movie!

I enjoy literature that is quite similar to the Hunger Games and believe that the Hunger Games teaches good lessons. Shirley Jackson wrote, "The Lottery" which is an equivalent story to the hunger games in theme. Both stories highlight the irregularities of such civilizations. In "The Lottery" Mrs. Hutchinson is stoned to death simply because she "won" the lottery. The worse part is that Mrs. Hutchinson is stoned to death even by her own children. The civilization is taught to obey custom without hesitation. Another story similar is by Louis Lowry, "The Giver". The town is striving for perfection in the world in a brainwashed attitude. This perfect world is not so perfect as it seems. When push comes to shove, something has to give and immoral and irrational "sacrifices" are made. This story shares the on-the-edge-of-your-seat element that is found in the short story, "The Monkey's Paw" Both books you are expecting a fastball, but the writer throws you a curveball. This type of writing leaves the reader wanting more and hungry for more. Much like "The Monkey's Paw" you do not want to put the book down because of how much it has gripped you. The hunger games is really similar to the Greek myths. I find that the Greek myths are such a strong foundation for our civilization, therefore, the hunger games share the foundation that our civilization is based on. Its kinda like teaching history through modern works. (Another example is Percy Jackson, a great series that teaches the reader the Greek myths. Both fun and educational) This story sheds light on the complexities of human behavior. The rational reasoning associated with killing an individual is bereft of an acute moral compass. The hunger games highlight the irrational thinking which has sometimes caused our civilization to go off course. Because of thus, this story teaches the readers/watchers that what is happening is bad. (Teaching through example. Kinda like the Witch Trials, irrational, but they teach a good lesson.) Since I am ecstatic about these books, and these books or short-stories share common sinews as the hunger games, I find that the only logical inference is that I am worthy of going to the premier of the Hunger Games since I have am not only reading the hunger games, but I have read stories that are very similar. ~Jordan If I one item, I would take: A radioactive spider. Webs can entomb others and to provide barriers while others duke it out. Question to others: Would you save yourself or save others? (I know the former is far more enticing but think long and hard about it. Other stories which really debate this question is "The Killers" and "Brothers are the Same")

I deserve to go because I would win the Hunger Games. I am a fairly adapt archer, ruthless when necessary yet fiercely protective of those who are smaller or in need. I also have a slow metabolism, so for me, it would be more like the Peckish Games, and while those bony other Tributes are dropping around me, I would laugh, pillage and triumph with narry a pound lost. I also know how to put on a good show. I would smuggle my pug, Jurgen, into the Arena as my "one item". He is a meaty little ham-loaf that can run straight through people-- knocking other competitors into gator-filled ponds and the like. He snores like a discount-store chainsaw, which would prevent my competition from sleeping, thus exhausting them and leaving them easy prey.

I live in Panem. Attendence to the Hunger Games is mandatory. Unless I want to get shot.
