More chances for More Advanced Screening Passes

by Moe - 1 Comment(s)

I am happy to announce that MM has just formed another partnership with a company that will offer tickets to MOVIE MANIAC fans. If you have ever received advanced screening passes from our other PR companion (click on CONTEST on the left under tags to see some of our previous offerings) you already mostly know how this works.

Now this next part is important and you must judge your own comfort level. If you want to take advantage of these offers you will be redirected to an external site at and it is through them that you request your tickets. This will require that you set up a gofobo account and password and if you are okay with this, I would do so ahead of time. The register icon is small - it is up on the top right of the page along with login/ f/Connect/register. Click on register and set yourself up. They will send you a confirmation in the email you provide and then you can set your password up. Done- you are registered. Then when you read here on the Movie Maniac blog that passes are available you just go to gofobo, log on to your own account and enter the very specific RSVP code which I will provide for each movie. Then the tickets will be sent to your own computer for printing off.

We will have a designated number of double passes for advanced screenings held specifically for our readers. You don't need to worry about trying to find the right movie/page on gofobo- once you enter the rsvp code that I provide it will take you right to that movie. You will see our Movie Maniac name and Logo once you use the code.

As with other advanced screening passes, you are not guaranteed admission UNTIL you redeem the pass at the box office for an actual theatre ticket.

On Friday the 11th I will be posting for advanced screening tickets for the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with a wonderful cast including Tom Wilkinson, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Bill Nighy---screening Thursday May 17 at 7:00 at Eau Claire Market.

Remember to come back on Friday and get that RSVP code.

The Hunger Games

by Moe - 72 Comment(s)

Yes. You read that right... Movie Maniacs, the TeenZone and our friends at Alliance Films are offering a FREE Double-Pass to "The Hunger Games" movie screening at 7:00 p.m. on March 22nd at Chinook Theatre. The movie isn't actually released until the next day, so you'll get to see it before anyone else!

Now, this contest is going to be a little trickier than usual, since this movie has a little more buzz than usual. To enter, you have to tell us WHY YOU DESERVE TO GO TO THE HUNGER GAMES -- and be creative! We're going to pit your entries in a battle-to-the-death (well... kind of...) to see who the champion is. That person will be informed on Wednesday March 21st.

To enter:

1) Use the comments box below to tell us why YOU deserve to go to 'The Hunger Games'

2) Make sure to include a way to contact you- we need your name and library card number (which will not be posted). It would be awful to miss out on this chance -- make sure you include this info.

3) Be creative! Competition is stiffer than that in the 74th Hunger Games!

Good Luck! And may the odds be ever in your favour!

Transformers review

So here is what one of our lucky contest winners had to say about the movie:

"I'm a little ashamed to say that I genuinely enjoyed Transformers. It was the most entertaining movie I've seen all year.
The film is easily the best Transformers. It cuts out nearly all of the slapstick that plagued the first films and is geared to a more mature audience. The action keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and there are more than a few jaw dropping moments. It's still a Michael Bay movie and it still has it's faults. But unlike the last two films the good parts vastly outweigh the bad. Anyone who wrote off the series after the first or second films owes it to themselves to see this one."

Thanks for the review Trevor.

Transformers:Dark of the Moon CONTEST

The movie is due for release shortly and I have a really sweet deal for four lucky winners. Not only do you get advanced sceening tickets (for two), you get RESERVED seats. But you have to work for it a little harder this time. I want you to create your ideal transformer- what would he look like--pre and/or post transformation- be creative, get the teens and kids involved. Once you are happy with your design, copy the URL for wherever your image is stored and pass it on through MM comments.

The contest will run till Friday June 24th-with the advanced screening Monday June 27th for the lucky winners. Because the contest runs the full week, if you are chosen you will have to be able to get to Crowfoot to pick up your winning ticket-no time to get it sent elsewhere!

And as always, dont forget to leave your name and contact number. We have one person who has entered 2 times and would have won if we had a way of contacting her.

Need to brush up on your Transformers?? We have lots to choose from: The first and the second with Shia Lebeouf and Megan Fox; the Animated Series Season 1 from 1984, the animated series from 2008 Transform and Rollout, and also a J in Chinese.

Super 8 Contest winner reviews the movie for MM

- 0 Comment(s)

I'd been so thrilled to win the movie passes and was even more thrilled once I'd seen Super 8. The movie was worth one hour and 45 minutes of your time, that's for sure. It was like The Goonies meets Transformers. The best thing was the character development and the script. Phenomenal job on that part. The witty dialogue was fabulous! The few action scenes were amazing. It was also nice as it's not like every other movie out there. As someone who grew to adulthood in the 80s, it was cool that the movie took place in the early 80s so you saw cereal boxes, Big Gulp cups, cars, clothes, and everything else from back then. That was cool. I'd give it two thumbs up!

Thanks for the review Toby !

Attention all you Coen Brothers fans---and we know there are a lot of you out there---answer this easy peazy skill testing question to win a double pass to an advanced screening of the Coen's new release. That's right, True Grit - starring last years Best Actor Winner Jeff Bridges---also featuring Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. This is a remake of the 1969 John Wayne classic, and the trailers on this looks 'real fine' .

The pass is for two people to attend either Monday December 13 7:00 or Wednesday December 15 at 7:00 at Empire Studio 16 on Country Hillls Blvd and there is more than one double pass available to be won. A big Movie Maniacs thank you to Paramount Pictures for these passes.

Your question is: name any other Coen Brothers movie that CPL carries. You will need to sign on to the COMMENTS field at the bottom of this post in order to send in your answer-and don't forget to LEAVE A NAME AND PHONE NUMBER WHERE WE CAN REACH YOU AND SPECIFY WHICH DAY. Please enter only if you can attend as the more passes that actually get redeemed, the more we will be able to offer in the future.

Good Luck!
