The fall is my favourite time of year. I especially love the cool, crisp days for taking long walks. In Calgary we tend to have long spells of sunny days perfect for enjoying the outdoors.
Of course we have many parks and trails in the city which make for some great walks. However, we have just added two new books to the library's collection which offer a new way of looking at our city.
David Peyto has written Calgary LRT Walks: the South Station and Calgary LRT Walks: the Northwest Station.
He gives us information about each of the stations, accessibility, and directions to a nearby walk. For instance, I could get off at my stop which is Canyon Meadows and find five different routes. I could visit Babbling Brook Park which is a short walk in a linear park with bridges that cross a small stream or I can pick longer routes which go into Fish Creek Park or along the escarpment above the park.
Check out these books for an interesting way to spend a sunny day!
