In anticipation of Calgary's upcoming When Words Collide fiction festival, its four guests of honour will appear at Fish Creek library to read from their work as well as sign books. WHEN WORDS COLLIDE gets underway the next day. Here's what the weekend will offer, as described on the festival's website: http://www.whenwordscollide.org/
We expect to see about 350 people at this multi-genre fiction festival celebrating Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Historical, Thriller, and other popular fiction genres.
There will be over 130 hours of programming in 7 meeting spaces in the hotel.
The evenings will also offer social activities in our 3 hospitality suites.
The program itself will include keynote addresses by our Guests of Honour, discussion panels, presentations, and workshops on a variety of current topics for readers, writers, and artists.
There will be author readings, signings, and discussions of their books.
Upcoming and aspiring writers can get tips on writing from successful authors, meet editors and publishers, and network with their peers.
The program is not just limited to books, but will also cover fiction magazines, graphic novels, comics, script writing and poetry. We will discuss new trends such as e-books, print-on-demand books, and book trailers.
We will also be looking at how art is created and used in these media.
There will be Kaffee Klatsches -- small, intimate discussions with our guests, as well as Blue pencil Cafés, and Pitch Sessions.
