Except for Newfoundland, no census returns are available after 1911.

The Newfoundland census for 1921, 1935 and 1945 can be borrowed
through the Interlibrary Loans Service.

In 1940 all persons over the age of 16 were required to register with
the government. Searches of The National Registration file can be
requested (covered by the Privacy Act, fees apply).
