- Automated Genealogy:

- Canada GenWeb Project:
Similar to the U.S. GenWeb; each province, sub-divided into regions or counties, lists the various genealogical resources and links for each area.
- Canadian Genealogy & History:
National and provincial headings including sections on libraries and archives, military, census, obituaries and searchable links; also includes a site search engine.
- Canadian Genealogy Centre
- Chinese-Canadian Genealogy:
Vancouver Public Library’s excellent website for Chinese-Canadian researchers. The site includes introductions to family and documentary sources, to Chinese names,
to the history of the Chinese in Canada and information for those wishing to do research in China. Many of the resources identified in this pathfinder
can be requested on inter-library loan by Calgary Public Library card holders.

- Hudson's Bay Company Archive: On-line finding aids to assist in locating which records are available, such as
post records, ships' records and London Office records; microfilm loans catalogue.
- Marj's Genealogy Page -- Genealogy and Family History Interests: good for immigration,
ships' lists, etc.
- Library and Archives Canada:
introduction to genealogical resources at the archives; includes searchable databases through ArchiviaNet, such as Canadian Expeditionary Force, Home Children, Dominion Land Grants.
- Olive Tree Genealogy
Alberta
- Alberta Family Histories Society (AFHS): Calgary genealogy association; maintains Canadian Genealogical Projects Registry;
lists events, publications, links.
- Alberta Homestead Records Index: The Alberta Genealogical Society has created an all-name online index to the Homestead Records held
by the Provincial Archives of Alberta. Because it is an all-name index, it includes the names of those who did not complete the homesteading process as well as anyone who had
an interest in the land (for example, beneficiaries of wills included in the records) in addition to those who were granted a patent. The index will allow you to access the
Ottawa file number and the PAA film number in order to view or request the file.

- Mennonite Historical Society of Alberta: Is a society devoted to the finding, collection, and preservation or materials related to
the history of the Mennonites in Alberta. They provide access to materials through their library and their transcription and extraction projects. Online access to records is available
through a link on the website. The also provide education in the areas of Mennonite history and genealogy.

- Canadian Genealogy and History Links - Saskatchewan
- Saskatchewan Homestead Index: This contains 360,000 references to men and women who homesteaded in the area now known as Saskatchewan.
It is searchable by name and location and includes land granted as Métis or South African scrip or as soldier grants. The index provides a file number which allows the user
to access the homestead record held by the Saskatchewan Archives.
- Saskatchewan Vital Statistics: Saskatchewan Health – Vital Statistics Office has published an online index to
open records of birth (those which occurred more than 100 years ago). Eventually these indexes will include an index to open records of deaths (more than 70 years ago) and marriages
(more 75 years ago).

Searchable images of U.S. Federal Census records 1790 - 1930, compiled genealogies and local histories, church records, military records, vital statistics,
city directories, Freedman’s Bank records 1865-1874 (helpful for African American family history) and subject index listings covering genealogy and
local history magazines in English and French Canada since 1800.

- FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints (Mormons) site; search the International Genealogical Index, Ancestral and Pedigree files, the FHL catalog and research helps.
Immigration/Ships' Lists
- Castlegarden.org: This site provides free access to a database of the names of 10 million people who came into
the United States between 1830 and 1892. Castle Garden processed immigrants arriving in New York from 1855 to 1890 but the database also includes immigrants who were dropped off
at the Battery before Castle Garden opened as well as 2,000 Ellis Island immigrants who weren’t included in the Ellis Island database.
- Ellis island: More than 22 million people entered the United States through Ellis Island and the Port of New York in the years
between 1892 and 1924. This database allows you to search through the records of these immigrant arrivals.
- Home Children (NAC): Searchable database of child immigrants between 1869 and 1930, taken from passenger lists at
the National Archives of Canada.
- Immigrant ships Transcribers Guild: Transcribed passenger lists, searchable by name, country, date, port, and ship name;
links to manifests for Bremen departures and to other ship-related sites.
- inGeneas: Canadian immigration and passenger lists including a free database National Archives of Canada
Miscellaneous Immigration Index of Immigrants Arriving in Canada Between 1801 and 1849.
