Our community garden group is officially a society, known as the Book ‘N Worms Garden Guild. Planning is well underway as our teams are busy buzzing away.
The first fund-raising initiative took place on the March 29th and attracted 22 residents. The event included a presentation by the Calgary Horticultural Society’s Community Garden staff, and a sale of cement stepping stones that the buyer can paint and decorate, then add to the garden path. So far, 9 have been sold and painting sessions are being organized for families who prefer decorating their stones in a community environment.
Another fundraiser took place on March 30th, with international best-selling author Toby Hemenway speaking on home-scale permaculture.
