Settlement and Integration Services including individual assistance in First Language, a family resource centre and an immigrant intergenerational skill building and support program; Immigrant Language and Vocational Assessment-Referral Centre; Community and Volunteer Resources Unit which includes a volunteer program, the Calgary Language Bank (interpretation and translation services), Citizenship Participation Program, Cultural Partnerships Program, and Culture Links Program (home tutoring and friendly visiting for homebound immigrants and refugees.)

• Calgary Immigrant Women's Association

A non-profit community agency established in 1982 to address the needs and concerns of all immigrant and refugee woman in Calgary. CIWA promotes the integration of immigrant women into Canadian society.

• Centre for Newcomers

The Centre for Newcomers is a non-profit organization devoted to assist refugees and immigrants arriving in Calgary in meeting their settlement needs.

• Jewish Family Service - Vocational Services

The centre's resettlement program includes vocational and acculturation (introducing immigrants to Canadian society) programs. Assistance with the preparation of resumes is provided, as well as assistance with job searches.

MULTICULTURAL SUPPORT

• Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Division (Alberta Community Development)

This department assists community organizations to identify, develop and implement issues that deal with equity and/or diversity. The department's main goals include deterring racism and discrimination and the promotion of cultural diversity.

• Calgary Multicultural Centre

Community development, leadership, advocacy. The centre has a small library which is undergoing organization.

• Calgary Police Services - Cultural Resource Unit

This unit provides outreach programs to groups to promote awareness of the police system in Calgary. The unit also provides assistance to individuals experiencing problems with the police, including seniors who may be experiencing problems. Each of the police officers in the unit have different areas of responsibilities; for example, one officer deals specifically with the Asian community.
