Welcome to One Book, One Calgary

In November, Calgary Public Library will host our fourth annual One Book, One Calgary event, a city-wide library initiative designed to ignite community dialogue and enrich community connections through a shared reading experience.

We're pleased to announce that The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill is this year's One Book, One Calgary selection. Published in 2007, this award-winning novel is fast becoming a Canadian classic. It has been nominated as a One Book, One Calgary contender several times by the community and by Calgary Public Library staff.

Extremely well-researched and written, The Book of Negroes invites readers to explore a chapter in Canadian history through the life of a fictional character's life caught up in the transatlantic slave trade. Learn more about this compelling book and join us in November for programs that explore the rich themes of this best-selling book of fiction.

Join us Friday, November 8th for An Evening with Lawrence Hill and the launch of One Book, One Calgary 2013.
