BLIND & VISUAL DISABILITY SERVICES

Calgary Public Library provides diverse collections and services to meet the needs of any individual who can not read or access print.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

A Special Services card is available at no cost to the following individuals:
  • Legally Blind: persons whose visual acuity, as determined by a competent authority, is 20/200 or less in the better eye with correcting lenses, or whose widest diameter of visual field subtends an angular distance of no greater than 20 degrees. 


  • Visual Disability: requires aids other than regular glasses to read standard printed material. 


  • Physical Disability: unable to turn pages or comfortably hold a book for extended periods of time.


  • Reading Disability: cognitive disability preventing an individual from reading printed material in a normal manner.
