How'd it go?

It's hard to believe but summer is over...and that means Youth Read is too. We'd love to hear what you thought about the challenges, website, and prizes so that we can make it even better next year! Please take a few minutes and give us:

your feedback

Youth Read is finished, but the fun doesn't have to end - you can still show us your creative side with Teens Create, tell us what you're reading for our Teen Picks list, and keep an eye on the Teen Zone Blog for future challenges and contests.

Week 5: The Zombies are Coming!

KatOxymoronic, Mohammad Ehab, Roxy Doodlebug, and Kenzie - you have all won draws in the last few weeks but we're having a hard time contacting you - please email us at to claim your prizes!

Challenge 1: Zombify!

Bonus Prize Challenge! One of this week’s zombifiers will win an epic zombie prize pack.

Did anyone notice the zombie invasion this past weekend? Luckily that was just practice for the zombie apocalypse but it reminded us of the importance of good camouflage when the time comes. So here’s the challenge: show us your best zombie version of something - take a pic of yourself in your best zombie makeup, or make or draw or write us a zombified version of anything at all (like Steve the Zombie Sock Monkey – stuffie & pic by Mandy Jouan).

Challenge 2: Txt us

Who has time for full sentences anymore? Write us a story or conversation in text-message style or as a series of post-it notes. This is probably also good practice for the zombie apocalypse, since you'll need to communicate quickly with surviving friends and family - but your story doesn't necessarily have to be zombie-themed.

Challenge 3: RAK

Let’s focus on the living for a minute and make the world a better place (before the undead rise and it all falls apart). Here’s the challenge: perform a random act of kindness this week – big or small, anything at all, just make sure you put some heart into it – and then tell us about it.

Challenge 4: Read!

It’s good for your braaaaaaains…
