Make Something: Chocolate Cake with PB Icing!

I came home from school this year (my school starts early), and my sister had baked a double-layer chocolate cake for my dad's birthday! Once at home, I helped make the icing and decorate the cake (and house!). Here is a picture of this delicious cake. (:

“You gotta dancelike there’s nobody watching,

Lovelike you’ll never be hurt,

Sing like nobody’s listening,

And livelike it’s heaven on earth.”

Book Spine Poetry

I absolutely could not go without doing this challenge! Here is my last minute entry. I had to work with the books I own, which was a challenge, so it didn't turn out exactly the way I'd wanted it to.

Once upon a time

The secret garden / a call of the wild

Fairest / a little princess

Week 4: Unplug
by lidarose on Youth Read 2013 - 0 Comment(s)

I went without electronics (I admit some T.V was watched) but it suprised me how much I could get done in a day. Especially how much TIME is in one day. Boredom was the biggest trouble of this challenge but I found when we unplug we find out so much more about those around you and yourself.

Unplugged at the Cottage!

Week 4: Unplug

I think this was a wonderful idea for a challenge! While I was away at a friend's lake, I stayed unplugged for the 3 days we were there (aside from looking at pictures on an iPad). I was able to enjoy the stunning beauty of the solitary, blissful place, and try many cool new things! I paddled on a surfboard/boogie board, tried the peddle/paddle boat, went on a scavenger hunt, swam across the chanel to White Rock and back, jumped off a small cliff/ledge into the water, swam and splashed around with family friends and entertained the kids, hiked around their small island, and sat on the bench on a cliff overlooking the water while writing and breathing in the fresh air. Ah, nature. So I can say completely truly that this weekend, being unplugged, was one of the best times of my entire vacation! (:

What's My Geek?

Week 8: Geek Week

What's My Geek?

There are many things I geek over. Books, stories my friends write, dancing and competition, John Green quotes, tv shows Once Upon a Time and Heartland, fairytales, tumblr pictures, food, impromptu adventures, and that's just the beginning! But if there's one thing I geek over more than anything else, that has absolutely got to be HARRY POTTER!

Cool Schools: Hogwarts!

Week 9: The End
by PotterAlways713 on Youth Read 2013 - 0 Comment(s)

If I could go to any school, fictional or otherwise, I would easily choose Hogwarts. I can only hope that we had subjects here like the ones at Hogwarts. I would love to experience all the classes (yes, even muggle studies or divination!), but I'd especially like to try my hand at the wand-using classes, like charms, transfiguration, and most of all, defense against the dark arts! Imagine what it would feel like to wield that power, and the determination and hard work it would take to achieve such an unimaginable feat. I would love the feeling of my wand, who chose me, and was made for me, and is unique and reflects me, in my hand and feel a flow of warmth run up my arms as I cast a spell. Can you imagine anything more wonderful?

Dear CPL I really liked this year and it was awesome that I won a giftcard (I bought a super cute shirt with it)

Summer Scenes

I took this photograph myself of the sun setting one evening when I lived in Christchurch New Zealand. The sky was so beautiful as it changed colours within minutes, but this was my favourite. It was truly an amazing experience and from then on summer sunsets have been my favourite thing.
