My favourite author is France Hodgson Burnett and this is what I’d do if I got to have a stroll in the park with her…
I had arranged to go to the park with Mrs. Burnett. I was nervous, I had never met her before and she
IS famous, right? I brought along all my copies of my books written by her. Which included,
A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, Little Lord Fauntleroy, Sara Crewe (that is the shorter version of A Little Princess
that Burnett wrote herself), and That Lass o’ Lowrie’s.
When I got to the park, I was a little (more like a lot) early, so I started reading one of the books I had carried there. By the time she got there, I had finished ¾ of my book. We started chatting
about her books, I asked her plenty of question, like, how did you come up with the names for your characters and for your titles? Also, questions like, were you scared when you sent your first book to be published?
Then she asked me, if I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. I answered with a smile, not only when I grow up, but now too. I asked a few more questions, then sadly told her I had to leave.
We bid each other good-by. And on my way home I had lots to think about.
